at Edinburgh International Science Festival (Anywhere)

Overview:
Volunteers are a vital part of the team at the Edinburgh International Science Festival. Our Front of House Support Team Volunteers will be responsible for providing event support at different Edinburgh Science Festival events across the city to help ensure their smooth delivery. If you have an interest in science and are looking to experience a dynamic festival environment this post could be for you.

Main responsibilities:
- Front of House Duties: may include, but are not limited to, checking tickets at the door, queue management both for admittance to the venue and specific events, providing information and assistance to the public, cloakroom work, closing shows and liaising with the box office team.
- Event Staging: Assisting with event staging, setting up, and assisting with AV set up, running microphones and other duties associated with delivering shows/talks.
- Customer Service: Assisting the Event Manager and Front of House team to ensure a high level of customer service is maintained, and being responsive and aware of the needs of visitors and colleagues. Familiarity with the Science Festival programme of events is essential in order to offer advice and recommendations to customers in line with their needs.

Commitment: We would ask you to commit to a minimum of 6 shifts or ideally as much as possible during the Festival from 30th March - 15 April. You will be allocated a specific venue and will form and essential part of the team there to deliver all events. Shifts will vary in length and will include weekends and evenings as well as weekdays.

Requirements: We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and committed volunteers with a desire to experience an exciting and dynamic festival environment. You should be enthusiastic to learn as much as you can about the Festival and perhaps are looking for a career in this sector. Some experience of working in festivals, events or a venue previously would be an advantage but is not essential.

Rewards for volunteering with us:
We guarantee that volunteering with the EISF team will be fun and rewarding, with a chance to meet new people and offers a great opportunity to gain valuable festival experience. Where possible you will also be able to attend some EISF events and shows free of charge. You will also be invited along to the Festival Wrap Party to celebrate with the team at the end of what we are sure will be an excellent 2012 Festival!

Interview: If you are successful in applying, you will be invited to a short, informal interview, which will take place week beginning 27th March.
