[freelance] Musical Director at Edinburgh Studio Opera

EDINBURGH STUDIO OPERA FRINGE SHOW 2012

After another successful run in last years Fringe, Edinburgh Studio Opera returns in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2012 with “Love and Death – Opera scenes” and are looking for a production team! The scenes under the ‘love and death’ theme can be discussed and selected by this production team and the ESO committee.

The fifty minute show will run from the 13th-18th August inclusive (11:15am-12:05pm) at Greenside Theatre (1b Royal Terrace EH7 5AB) with casting in May and rehearsals in July.

Applications are invited for the following roles:

- Director

- Musical Director

- Producer

Applications for Assistants to the above roles, Stage and Costume Managers and Tech posts are also welcome.

ESO does not offer a fee for such positions in Fringe shows but we hope that this can serve as an opportunity for anyone keen to try their hand in directing or producing a show or as a way to get involved with ESO, or a chance to see returning faces.

Applications to be made to president@edinburghstudioopera.com by 5pm on Friday 20th April to include a short covering letter and CV or record of any relevant experience.

Shortlisted Candidates will be asked to meet a few members of the committee for an informal chat and may be required to take a short rehearsal with a few members of the society if they are applying for the Director or Musical Director posts.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society is the company that organises the structure that underpins the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and exists to advise, support and encourage all participants at the Festival Fringe, to provide comprehensive information services, including ticketing, to its participants and the public, and to promote the entire Fringe as a festival in the context of Edinburgh and other festivals.

Our aim is to be a flexible, focused and creative organisation, and to that end we are seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced individual to the position of venues and companies officer (reporting to the venues and companies manager). Each August, the Fringe Society works to support around 250 venues housing approximately 2,500 shows and performers throughout the run of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The role will be for 30 weeks starting in late February.

The Fringe Society participates in the Double Tick – Positive about Disabled People scheme.
