What it's like to work at ZOO Venues

Intimate performance spaces in the heart of Edinburgh's Fringe district, known for physical theatre, new writing, and emerging companies. ZOO Venues operates from spaces near Pleasance during August — not to be confused with Edinburgh Zoo the wildlife park. They run a volunteer-based model with structured training.

Most ZOO roles are unpaid volunteer positions in exchange for free accommodation in shared university halls, free shows, and a meal allowance. A small number of paid technical and venue management roles are also recruited each year. The vibe is collaborative and arts-focused — many ZOO volunteers go on to careers in theatre and arts production.

Runs a volunteer programme — see our volunteering guide for what to expect.
